Public Brand Guideline References

Real, public-facing brand-guideline microsites and starter files to study how mature companies codify identity — logo, color, type, motion, iconography, voice, and tokens — plus where to discover more. The human-readable source that agent-consumable teardowns like Awesome Design MD are compiled from.

Studying a finished, in-production brand system beats reading abstract theory: it shows the decisions (which neutral, which radius, how motion is scoped) and the structure a guideline document needs. A 2026 thread highlighting Cash App's public design site — "this design team absolutely cooked … packed with fire ideas everywhere" — is the anchor example. Source: X/@Aurelien_Gz, 2026-05-13

Cash App — design.cash.app

Cash App (a Block company) publishes a complete public brand-guidelines site, structured the way an internal design system documents itself: Source: design.cash.app, https://design.cash.app/, 2026-06-12

Section Pages
Foundations Logo, Color, Typography, Motion, Iconography, Voice & Tone
Expressions Card, Graphic UI
Resources Tokens, Logo download, Type download, Press kit

Two things make it a strong study target: it treats Motion and Voice & Tone as first-class foundations (not afterthoughts), and it ships a Tokens resource — the bridge from human guideline to machine-consumable values. Use it as a reference structure when building Kevin's design system docs. Source: X/@Aurelien_Gz, 2026-05-13 (526 likes, 479 bookmarks)

The reviewed video artifact clarifies why the site belongs in this page rather than only in a generic inspiration list: motion and 3D objects are part of the brand system. The local contact sheet shows a black canvas with floating green/white brand objects, product/card motifs, and section navigation for Brand Guidelines, Foundations, Expressions, and Resources. Treat the motion surface as guidance for how a brand guideline can demonstrate behavior, not only publish static tokens. Source: local video contact sheet, 2026-07-02

Tech OG images as identity tests

Social preview images are a useful identity compression test: if the brand is recognizable without a wordmark-heavy layout, the system has an ownable visual primitive. Lukas Levert's June 2026 thread names Clay, PostHog, fal, Cohere, and Nous Research as strong current tech-brand examples and preserves four local OG-style artifacts. The reviewed images show four distinct strategies:

Brand Visual primitive
Clay Soft toy-clay landscape, rainbow mark, rounded tactile forms.
PostHog Desktop/handbook skeuomorphism, pixel/illustration texture, product-operating-system metaphor.
fal High-contrast purple field with cyan pixel diffusion-bird graphics.
Cohere Abstract glossy macro forms, dark iridescent glass, restrained wordmark lockup.

Use these as art-direction references, not brand-guideline templates. The takeaway is contrast in the SF/AI company visual field: strong identity comes from a repeatable material/illustration language, not only a logo. Build-your-own starter — Entity Brand Guidelines (Figma)

A free Figma Community file, "Entity Brand Guidelines — 100% Free," provides a ready template to assemble brand guidelines (logo usage, color, type, application) rather than starting from a blank canvas. Useful for quickly giving a new project a structured identity doc. Discovering more

Source What it gives you
Rebrand Gallery Curated gallery of rebrands, identity launches, and rebrand reveal videos — the discovery feed for fresh public systems. Also catalogued in Moodboard Sites.
Awesome Design MD The same systems (Apple, Spotify, Airbnb, 30+) reverse-engineered into single agent-consumable .md files.
Resend Design Skills First-party example of a brand/product/marketing design system packaged as installable agent skills.
Design Agencies Reference Studios behind many of these identities.

How this fits Kevin's stack

  • Human study → structure: read a real guideline site (Cash App) to learn what sections and decisions a system needs.
  • Reference → moodboard: discover new systems via Rebrand Gallery; collect them in Moodboard Sites.
  • Guideline → agent: convert the studied system into an agent-consumable spec — either an Awesome Design MD-style DESIGN.md, or generate one with the Frontend and Design Skills skill. The progression from public microsite → tokens → DESIGN.md is the same one Aesthetic Systems argues for: encode identity as values an agent can apply, not screenshots.
