PortfolioMon Showdown

Kevin's personal portfolio reimagined as a creature-battler: each project is a "PortfolioMon" with types, stats, and moves, fought in turn-based combat. An anti-resume that demonstrates taste instead of listing it.

Hosted at kevin-liu.tech, the site rejects the standard resume layout in favor of a playable game - the medium is the message about design-engineering ability. Source: kevin-portfolio/README.md

Concept

Projects become collectible "PortfolioMons" with a custom type-effectiveness chart (e.g. AI > Data, Web > Mobile), status effects, items, and battle logs. There is a turn-based combat mode and an auto-battler. Source: kevin-portfolio/README.md § Key Features

Stack

Next.js App Router, TypeScript, Tailwind, Framer Motion, NextAuth, deployed on Vercel. Source: kevin-portfolio/README.md § Tech Stack

Why it matters

It is a Tier-1 personal-brand artifact: the Application Standout Protocol uses creative, high-craft projects as proof of taste, and PortfolioMon Showdown is that proof in playable form - a sibling in spirit to Princeton Tower Defense (build-in-public browser game). It belongs in Kevin's portfolio alongside Dedalus and Sevenfold as evidence of frontend range.
