What It Is
Charcuterie is a browser-based Unicode explorer. It lets users browse characters, find visually related glyphs, learn about scripts/symbols/shapes, and sketch a shape to find matching glyphs. The live site currently says rendered glyphs are embedded with SigLIP 2 and compared in vector space; the reviewed launch video still says CLIP, so treat SigLIP 2 as the current implementation authority. Why It Matters
Most Unicode lookup is semantic: know a name, codepoint, block, or script first. Charcuterie flips the entry point to visual similarity. That makes it useful for symbol identification, font/design research, internationalization edge cases, homoglyph audits, and visual reference gathering. It also matches Aerne's broader design-tool pattern: encode perceptual structure so the system can search by how something looks, not only by how it is named.
The artifact review shows the actual product surface: a distorted grid of nearby glyph neighborhoods, blue-highlighted related characters, a selected glyph detail panel, and copy naming the tool as "Charcutrie" in the launch UI. The current site uses the corrected "Charcuterie" spelling, but the misspelling remains a useful alias because the source tweet and old hub entries used it. Status
The site says Charcuterie is under active development and that similarity data is available. It is a hosted browser tool rather than a package-backed dependency, so there is no package version to pin. For current implementation claims, check the live site; for launch context, use the X artifact and local screenshot.
