Dither
Open-source vector dithering tool with an Illustrator plugin. Created by Josh Pigford (@Shpigford). Available at dither.neato.fun and github.com/Shpigford/dither.
What It Is
Dither converts images and gradients into scalable SVG patterns — each dither cell becomes a vector shape (circles, squares, diamonds) grouped by color. Available as a web app and a native Adobe Illustrator plugin. Source: GitHub Shpigford/dither README, 2026-03-15

Artifact Review
The three downloaded tweet images show the tool's useful range: a green/yellow halftone portrait scene, an abstract blue band composition converted into square-dot texture, and a sepia target-like gradient rendered as grid dithering. The durable design lesson is that dither should be treated as an editable vector texture primitive, not a static bitmap overlay.
